Pics were taken in poor lighting,
but I couldn’t wait to share them!

These bags were a special order,
but if you would like a bag like this one,
you can find one in my shop here!

I just have to say that without my husband John’s willing hands,
I’d still be hammering in grommets!

paisley-and-yellow-assembly-7

Not that they are hard to install — on the contrary,
they are very easy to work with!
But I don’t know if my wrists would have outlasted 32 grommets!

Here’s how they work:
(I already had the holes cut for John, using the cutter tool in the kit)

~ place the grommet on pedestal ~

~ place the top of the grommet in the hole on the bag ~

~ place washer around grommet, rounded side up ~

~ insert grommet tool into grommet; turn tool 1/4 turn with each strike ~

And they’re done —

With many hugs and kisses to my “Super Man”!

Well, I met my goal for today!

paisley-and-yellow-assembly-5

I made the piping for the top edge,
sewed it and the lining to the top edge,
then flipped it right-side out and top-stitched!

I had time to begin the grommets, but I don’t have nearly enough —
I’ll have to pick them up tomorrow.

But we’re almost there!

I don’t know why hand sewing buttons takes me so long,
but I finally finished them last night at 8:30pm.

I guess when you have the magic that is a sewing machine,
hand sewing just doesn’t seem that important — or fun!

Today, I’ll be working on the piping along the top edge, the inside lining,
and hopefully I’ll have them all done but the grommets and handles for tomorrow!

I’ll try to post of another pic at the end of today —
hopefully they’ll look much different!

Well, we’re preparing our raised garden beds for our spring garden.

Micah had to do quite a bit of weed-eating,
since the weeds had taken control since last year.

Hannah got the job of re-stringing the beds into 1-foot squares,

and Caleb was in charge of making sure the weed debris was cleared off.

I raked up all the weed-eated (is that an adjective?!) grass,
and then tomorrow we’ll use a mixture of
water, vinegar, and a drop or two of dishsoap to kill off the remaining growth.

We took a moment to admire the beautiful apple blossoms on the apple trees . . .

and then we made sure to check with our supervisors to see that
they approved of our work — they seemed to be pleased!

Then, it was on the the next stage of the Paisley and Yellow bags —
I was able to assemble the outside of the bags . . .

Tomorrow I’ll be hand-sewing the buttons onto the sides . . .

So far, I’m pleased with the progress — on schedule for my Friday goal!

I’ve been asked to make a set of 8 of my Paisley and Yellow
knitting project bags, like this one in my shop:

So, I’ve spent a good part of the afternoon cutting out the pieces for the bags . . .

I’m looking forward to working on these bags in assembly line fashion;
they should work up more quickly this way!

I’ll try to post pics of my progress — my goal is Friday by 3pm!
